I don't think I can talk about things that inspire me without mentioning Harry Potter and I know that sounds really weird but just hang in there with me. I started read my first HP book in like 5th grade maybe and it was filled with all this insane stuff that I could only imagine. Years later my mom took me to see the movie and it was amazing! The characters came to life, the flying brooms, witches, wizards, ghosts, talking portraits. It wasn't necessarily
the effects that made me love it. It was just the simple fact that I could VISUALLY see things that I had grown familiar with because of what I had invisioned in my mind. As corny as it sounds it was like greeting an old friend. That's what I love, that's what I want to do. I want to bring people's visions to life. I want to recreate for someone else what Harry Potter was to me.

The big news of 2011 for many was the resurrection of The Game. It was cancelled like two years ago and BET brought it back basically because of fans. We watched the reruns over and over and I think that got BET's attention and realized they had something good on their hands. This inspires me because I want to create something that people love so much that they can't get enough. Not necessarily saying that I want to be super successful but I think everyone wants people to LOVE what they create or at least I do. I want people to see that I put a lot of effort into what I create and I want them to believe in my project as much as I do.

I think you have created something great when you can't stop looking at it. No matter what it is all you can do is stop and stare. I think I have had that happen twice and on two completely separate occasions because of two completely different videos. The first one above is a screenshot of a wrestling promo. (I know, I know) The original was shot in one long continuous shot and it was amazing. Vince McMahon made it great because he was so passionate about what he was saying. The screenshot is actually from a second version. This version was EPIC and it was because of the editor. Plan and simple, he took single continuous shot and layered the audio, layered the video, made it black and white, put various filters on it, added background music and turned it into something so much more. The editor added more drama, more suspense--all you could do was watch and wonder where Vince was going with this. I loved it, I want to be able to do that and convey so much in a simple :33 sec promo.

<----This is from Evanescence's music video for their song My Immortal. I saw this back in high school one morning getting ready for school. I usually had music videos playing in the background while I got ready for the bus. One morning this came on and I was captivated. I don't know exactly what kept my attention but for the 4:00 minutes it played, I was glued to the tv. There was so much coverage and it was just beautiful. Children playing, close up of fingers on a piano, feet playing in water, birds being released--it was beautiful. I loved it and I want to captivate an audience like this also. It doesn't have to be an intense experience like the Vince McMahon promo. It can be relaxing and slow like My Immortal.
